W3C WoT Open Day and WoT hands-on in Shenzhen China
Happenings
The aim of this event is to explore Web of Things (WoT) technologies in order to enable interoperability in the Internet of Things (IoT).
Add to calendarThe W3C Web of Things Working Group and W3C China jointly invite you to join us in the W3C Web of Things Open Day in Shenzhen. The event will showcase how WoT technologies work in practice and demonstrate concrete use cases where the WoT approach can be effectively applied to enable interoperable IoT solutions across platforms and ecosystems as well as how physical AI approaches can increase effectiveness.
Following the Open Day, participants will have the opportunity to join a W3C Web of Things hands-on day. Through practical examples, the goal is to learn how to launch an IoT project using WoT technologies. Participants are welcome to bring their own IoT devices, experiment with WoT Thing Descriptions, and engage directly with WoT experts to ask questions, exchange experiences, and validate interoperability in practice.
The event is:
- Hosted by: W3C
- Supported by: Siemens and SAC/TC 28/SC 41 — National Technical Committee on Information Technology, Subcommittee on Internet of Things and Digital Twin
- Sponsored by: Huawei

Why sponsoring?
Direct engagement with Management and technical experts from leading IoT organizations
The event brings together key decision-makers, technical leads, and active developers from the global IoT ecosystem, including platform providers, device manufacturers, and system integrators. Sponsorship provides direct access to an audience of practitioners who bring their own devices to the hands-on interoperability validation — not merely a passive audience, but active participants shaping the future of connected systems.
Acquire deep insights into the latest international WoT standards and implementation practices through direct, hands-on engagement.
The W3C Web of Things specifications are continuously evolving, with new drafts and proposals emerging regularly. Sponsorship provides early visibility into these developments directly from the W3C Working Group, enabling better-informed technology planning. The PlugFest further offers a window into real-world implementation patterns and emerging best practices through hands-on testing scenarios, while direct interaction with specification editors provides clarity on design decisions and future roadmaps.
Product validation in real-world interoperability scenarios
Unlike traditional conferences, where products are typically presented through slides and demonstrations, the event functions as a hands-on working session in which real devices are actively tested for compliance with, and interoperability against the W3C WoT standards. Sponsorship enables products to be validated side-by-side with other ecosystem solutions in a live environment, offering concrete, demonstrable proof of interoperability in action.
